Geranium Dress Pattern

by Cameron

I had only heard good things about the Geranium dress pattern by Made by Rae, so I was excited when we started carrying it a couple weeks ago. I started working on it right away, and it was satisfying from beginning to end. You know those projects that come together so smoothly you want them to keep going and going? The Geranium dress was one of those projects for me. And I’m so pleased with the result. Unfortunately, the little baby it’s going to is still a few months out, so I only have unmodeled photos to share with you. You’ll just have to take my word for it - this is one stinkin’ cute dress.

The pattern comes with sizes 0-5T - that’s five years of sewing! There are three or four variations - I went with cap sleeves and a pleated skirt. It’s a simple enough pattern that you could make many other alterations to suit your little one’s taste. The construction was straightforward and the instructions were clear and helpful.

I used fabric from the newest collection from Cotton and Steel. I think this print is just perfect for kids clothing. It’s sweet enough for a baby, but not too young for older kids.

Instead of buttons, I decided to use pearl snaps to close the yolk, and I’m so happy I did. I do think snaps are easier for parents trying to dress a wiggly little girl and safer because they’re less likely to pop off and get swallowed, but I’d be lying if I said that was really why I loved them so much. The truth is snaps are so much faster and easier than buttons!

If you have any little girls in your life that need a new spring dress, I recommend giving the Geranium a try.
