The Iris Knickers pattern by Tilly and the Buttons fits 33”-51” hip with an extended size range up to 61” hip available as a pdf from Tilly and the Buttons.

In my opinion, the Iris pattern was the hands down winner of all of the underwear patterns that we tried! With three rises and three leg opening heights that can be put together in any combination to make a whopping nine different possible variations, it was absolutely the most flexible. Really, with this one pattern, you can get almost any style of underwear. To make it even more flexible, the instructions include options for stretch lace, plain elastic, and fold over elastic.

The instructions are simple, easy to follow, and clear. All of us who tried the Iris pattern felt like the method of assembly was the simplest that we’d tried of any underwear pattern. After making a couple I decided to try to get through all nine variations. After about 4 pairs I could knock a pair out in well under an hour.

Truly, this may be the only basic, femme-style, underwear pattern that anyone could possibly need. There’s also fitting advice and workshops available on the Tilly and the Buttons website. I’m adding this to my indispensable pattern list.
