Flickr Inspiration: January's Pick

—By Heather

Hello, February! And congratulations to Shanelle Grieco, who’s photo has been chosen as our first monthly Flickr Pool favorite for January. Shanelle graciously shared a few words with us about her project:

: :  This past October, my brother and his wife were blessed with their first baby. Since it has been an activity in my family for at least three generations, quilting a gift for Baby Carter seemed like a perfect, and cozy, way to help welcome him into the world.
The design inspiration came from autumn afternoon’s reading Susan Beal’s Modern Log Cabin Quilting. Her Modern Crosses quilt directions calls for the use of a variety of different colors. But, I must have been in a more uniform mood, because making the crosses all one color seemed like a fun twist. And while I definitely don’t believe boys need blue, and girls need pink, blue it was. After finishing most of the blocks, it became clear that a little contrast was in order. For that I chose orange.
Sincere thanks to all the wonderful people at Bolt. Without this dear neighborhood fabric boutique, I would be without a steady source of inspiration. All of the beautiful fabrics, and warm environment they create, make for one of my most favorite places to spend a weekend afternoon. Hope to bump into many of you there. Until then, happy crafting.   : :

Thanks to you, Shanelle for sharing with the Bolt community.

Besides having her photo featured on our blog, Shanelle will receive a coupon worth 15% off her next purchase. Next month it could be you—so get busy posting those photos to the Bolt Neighborhood Flickr pool!
