Bubble Bottom Skirt with Shelly


Monday, 11/2, 6:30-9:00 pm


What a great way to learn how to make a darling little bubble skirt than from the designer herself.  Shelly has created a skirt that is not only cute but is for the beginning seamster.  Shelly will take you through the pattern step by step and for those seamsters that have more experience she can teach you how to add piping, ruffles or a fabric flower to the skirt.  Oh, did I also mention the skirt is REVERSIBLE.  Soon the holidays will be among us and this skirt is perfect with tights and kicky boots or as gift for a little loved one.

Freezer Paper Stencil with Melissa


Tuesday, 11/3, 6:30-8:30 pm


In this no-sew class you'll learn how to create one off wearables and accessories using inexpensive fabric paint stencils.  It just might become your go-to gift for the men in your life who are impossible to buy for, all those new baby gifts, or some quick and easy one-of-a-kind homemade holiday gifts for whoever is on your list!  You'll leave class with one or two finished projects and a whole new appreciation for the wonders of freezer paper!

Women’s Trench Coat with Autumn


Wednesdays, 11/4 and 11/11, 6:30-9:00 pm


Make a warm trench for yourself for fall.  Using the pattern in the book Chic and Simple Sewing we will make a simple trench. Use some of Bolt’s new wool fabric, a patterned canvas, or upholstery weight fabric for your trench. We will also talk about different ways we can dress up this simple trench coat. 


For this class you will need a sewing machine, scissors, Chic and Simple Sewing book, thread, fabric for your trench, and store bought bias tape (optional).

 Felt Christmas Ornaments with Alicia Paulson


Mondays, 11/9 and 11/16 (6:30-8:30 p.m.)


Spend a few quiet hours with needle and thread and little pile of luscious wool felt this fall as we stitch up Christmas ornaments by hand from Alicia Paulson’s original collections. Choose your favorites from the Ice Skating Afternoon or Walk in the Woods ornament kits, and learn how to transfer templates and markings, embroider details using simple embroidery stitches, attach beads and sequins, stitch sides together using blanket stitch, and stuff and finish.


Instruction cost: $40

Materials cost: $25 per kit, $45 for both kits

 Pattern Making: Princess Dress with Christina


Tuesdays, 11/10 and 11/17, 6:30-8:30 pm


This is a great way to create a good fitting dress, or tops that go past your waist.  We start of with our basic bodice patterns to create this dress that has no darts, just seams! You must have already taken the basic bodice pattern class. Make sure to bring the basic bodice (front & back) to this class.  This is a pattern drafting class, not a sewing class.

 Pajamas for the People with Lupine


Thursdays, 11/12 and 11/19, 6:30-8:30 pm


Man, woman, boy, girl, PJ pants may just become your go-to gift for the 2009 holiday season.  We will work through these great and comfy and family friendly pants in a two night class.  The pattern from Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross has basic details that work for everyone.  You will learn how to do a simple elastic waist and create a flattering shaped PJ pants for everyone on your holiday gift list.  Maybe they will be flannel for the kids or a soft cotton for the Mother-in-Law, these are a great pair of pants for one and all.

 Belle Skirt with Sally


Sundays, 11/15 and 11/22, 4:30-6:30 pm


This popular skirt looks great on everyone! With a bias cut yoke and narrow elastic at the waist, it has the appearance of a flat front skirt with the ease of an elastic waist. Choose up to three different fabrics for this fun skirt or give it a classic look by sewing it up in one solid color. We will talk about lengthening or shortening the skirt without losing the tiered shape as well as fitting on the bias.

 Bird Mobile—it’s back!  With Shelly


Tuesday, 12/1, 6:30-9:00 pm


This is the perfect class for the hand or machine seamster.  This is a great class to use up those scraps sitting in a scrap basket just dying to be used for good.  These cute birdies have so many uses.  A mobile for the nursery, an art display hanging in your front window, sachets for your drawers, stuffed toys for the little ones and the list can go on, think Holiday gifts.   Stop by the shop to see a sample creation.

Pattern making: Sleeve with Christina


Wednesday, 12/2, 6:30-8:30 pm 


Get ready for winter & learn how to draft sleeves! We start out learning how to draft a basic fitted sleeve & then manipulate the pattern to create fun & flirty designs of all styles/lengths. You must have already taken the basic bodice pattern class. Make sure to bring the basic bodice (front & back) to this class.  This is a pattern drafting class, not a sewing class.

 Uniform Skirt with Lupine


Thursdays, 12/3 and 12/10, 6:30-9:00 pm


You have read about it on the blog, and you want to make your own.  The perfect everyday all the time lots of options skirt.  This class is for you.  We will install a zipper (invisible), baste some seams, make a super fun skirt, and talk pockets and details.  Maybe you want a lining, maybe you want a simple turned hem.  Maybe you find that you can't live without a pocket or two.  This is a great class to finally make yourself something to wear, and overcome your fears of fit and zippers.


The Barcelona skirt pattern will be the jumping off point, but we will explore the options from there.

 Jalie T-shirt with Sally


Sundays, 12/6 and 12/13, 4:30-6:30 pm


T-shirts with your choice of long sleeve, three-quarter sleeve, short sleeve, mock turtleneck, v-neck or jewel neckline, this pattern has a t-shirt to match everything in your wardrobe. Once you master working with knit fabrics, you’ll be making all your own t-shirts. We will discuss options to alter the shirt to fit maternity sizes as well as a broad range of regular sizes so the shirt fits to a tee!

Learn To Sew: Fat Quarter Napkins with Autumn


Tuesday, 12/8, 6:30-9:00 pm

Learn to sew with this practical project.  Be green and use cloth napkins!  Use a combination of fat quarters to create cloth napkins.  In this learn to sew class you will become acquainted with your sewing machine, learn how to thread your machine, wind your bobbin, and sew straight seams to create your cloth napkins.  Other skills you will learn are clipping corners, turning your project, top stitching, and a little bit of hand sewing.  This project is a great, useful introduction to sewing and you’ll be ready to start whippin’ out stocking stuffers left and right!

The To Go Artist with Shelly 


Wednesday, 12/9, 6:30-9:00 pm


Shelly has designed a pattern that will help you organize your art essentials.


This darling organizer can hold pencils, crayons or even knitting needles and you can


roll it up and drop it in your bag to go.  Shelly will take you through a pattern and teach you how to change up the look of your organizer to meet your specific needs.  This will be a wonderful and quick way to show your love to an artistic pal or a parent of a future artist.  A terrific class for the beginner seamster to perfect their topstitch and learn how to use ric rac or piping.
