I promised more info on mask-making as it became available, and hopefully this post will provide you with some info on how to proceed.
100 Million Masks
Providence Medical Group in Western Washington started this campaign. Right now they are only providing supplies in Western Washington, but they are hoping to expand to other areas. Sign up here for more info as it becomes available.
Crafters Against Covid-19***PDX*** Facebook Group
In the past few days folks close to Providence here in Portland have made the call for DIY Masks here. This group has all sorts of info, including 2 patterns ( A and B), video tutorials on pattern cutting and construction, and materials suggestions and resources for material sourcing. Feel free to join the group, but please make sure to follow all of their guidelines. Read all the info provided before asking questions or offering suggestions, and make sure to post in the proper threads. The group is only a few days old and it has grown quickly. They are trying to keep it as organized and understandable as possible.
Lastly, here is a Google Doc (shared by Dan Melton) full of resources about the efficacy of DIY masks, local resources on materials, calls for mask both local and worldwide, patterns, and more.
We are so heartened to see the huge response to these calls. We are forever grateful for our sewing and crafting community. Thank you for your enthusiasm and desire to help! Please be patient with us, we are sharing information as fast as we can. We will get through this together, albeit apart!
