Our Values

The fundamental mission of Bolt is to support your creativity. We believe creativity is unique to each individual and making is powerful. We seek to support you in your full glory. We aim to consistently center the most marginalized members of our community. We believe Black lives matter. We do not tolerate hate, are committed to working toward a society free of oppression and aim to always be learning. We welcome you in.

How do we do this?

  • Consider the broad ranging social, ecological, and global impacts of our purchasing decisions and in turn, offer you information for your purchasing decisions.

  • Honor and respect your budget and help you to not buy more than you need.

  • Remain open to hearing our community’s wants and needs, and respond appropriately.

  • Commit to holding ourselves accountable, making amends, and learning from our mistakes.

  • Celebrate the diversity of our community, your styles and projects.

  • Support our greater community in whatever ways we can.

Community Support

We love using the store to benefit the larger community in whatever ways we can. Over the years we’ve been honored to support a wide range of organizations and needs and have asked our customer community to help us with raising funds, collecting supplies, and sharing information. We are always blown away with the results and are grateful that you continue to support in this way. In an effort to create a more equitable and impactful approach to donations, we are changing up how we do things.

Each quarter we will highlight a different organization that represents one of these four areas: Portland Public Schools (specifically, the PPS Parent Fund), Racial and Social Justice, Arts, and Environmental Stewardship and Justice and donate 2% of the quarter’s proceeds to a specific organization. We will also hold a raffle each quarter for a $200 gift certificate to the store. All raffle ticket sales will go to the featured organization. An additional fundraising week will be held in June, specifically in honor of Juneteenth. Ten percent of proceeds the week of Juneteenth will be donated to a Black-led organization doing work that promotes economic equity. We will confirm each organization’s acceptance of our donation before the quarter starts. We will highlight the organizations throughout the 3 month period, sharing information with our customer community via IG, newsletter and in-store, calling for our community to support as well, in whatever ways they are able and the organization wants. We will work to maintain an equity lens when reviewing organizations to support. If you know of an organization we should be aware of, please let us know!

We love to collaborate! If you have a project that could use some fabric-related support, reach out! We’ll let you know if we are able to help. If you want some help spreading the word about an event, need, or action, reach out! You can send any correspondence to info@boltfabricboutique and gina@boltfabricboutique.com. Thank you for being in community with us.
