Big Changes Around Here

Hi there,

I’ve got some pretty big news to share. The time has come for me to step aside from the store and let others take the lead. Before the year is through, Anne and Bitty, who have been with the store for 2 and 3 years, will be the new owners. Of course, it is a huge mix of emotions I’m feeling as we near the switch over date, but mostly, excitement. I am so happy and excited to see how Anne and Bitty carry Bolt through its next stages. I have witnessed their commitment to the store grow over the past couple of months as we’ve navigated this change and it is wonderful to see. 

This store has been a passion project of mine, oftentimes for reasons I did not foresee. The way our store community has shown up to support events, donation drives, and fundraising has been tremendous. It has always been more than selling fabric for me and you all have shown me it is for you too. Through the years I gained a deep appreciation for the role small businesses play in our communities. Relationships are built and fostered within small community businesses. I will deeply miss seeing our customers on a regular basis, as it has been a joy to build those relationships. Thank you for that.

There is no way I would have lasted sixteen years in this role without each and every one of the amazing, wonderful, brilliant, witty, kind and generous staff members who have worked with me. They have created a workspace that is joyful, creative, supportive and hilarious. They have brought themselves to this work fully and shared of themselves every day. I don’t have words big enough or deep enough to express the gratitude and admiration I feel for them, and I’m hoping they’ll let me hang around sometimes, if I promise not to be bossy. 

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to “pass the baton” on tending to this sweet little project. I can’t wait to be a customer, wandering around, letting my imagination run wild and I hope to see you when I’m there!
