We got in all these wonderful books at once and man are they making our creative glands salivate. Themes range from applique, collage and embroidery with each author using color in such a beautiful, vibrant way. Making Faces in Fabric, by Melissa Averinos, teaches you how to draw a face focusing on facial proportions then moves on to talk about cutting fabric pieces to make a face and different ways to go about stitching them onto the background. The book includes a few project ideas complete with instruction and a gallery of her student's work. It's a gem of a book.

Juliet van der Heijden's Animal Quilts teaches you how to paper piece and includes a CD that includes all the full sized pattern pieces you will need to construct her various animals such as an owl, tiger or panda. The book is absolutely stunning and she used several quilting cotton prints that we have carried and do carry, so it's right up our alley.

Joyful Stitching, by Laura Wasilowski, shows the reader how to let loose through improvisation by changing up the provided designs, swapping out colors and trying new stitch combinations. The beginning of the book teaches us several different ways to transfer designs to be embroidered which, believe it or not, isn't as straight forward as one might think. The book includes templates for stitching up the projects featured in the book as well as wonderful pictures to help you brush up on your embroidery stitches.
