Upcoming Events: Classes, artwork, and doing good

Want to learn to block print? There are all sorts of classes popping up around town teaching various aspects of sewing, textile design, you name it. We thought we'd take a minute to point out a few that are coming up.

At ADX in SE Portland, you can take a 4 hour session on block printing and end up with your own, unique dish towel!

They also are offering leather working, belt making class for those of you wanting to step into the world of working with leather. You can see their class list here.

Another happening around town that may grab your interest is the current show at Guardino Gallery, just up the street from us at 30th and Alberta. This month, one of the featured artists is Mar Gorman. Pieces include buttons, embroidered designs, and painted cardboard tubes! Fascinating work. This gallery is one of my favorites in town. I am so grateful to get to walk past on my way to and from work and gaze in at the latest installations. This one has me pressing my face up to the window to get a better look, making a mental note to get back there during open hours! You can read more about both the featured artists here.

Some of you may remember we've held fabric drives for Coffee Creek Quilters in the past. It's a great organization, teaching quilting to women at the Coffee Creek correctional facility. They are holding a fundraiser sale!
