Beautiful Books

Do you have the February blues? I have the remedy - beautiful, colorful bursts of inspiration in the form of a book. We have some really lovely new books in that might just have the projects that will get you through the next couple months of grey.

The Modern Natural Dyer, by Kristine Vejar makes natural dyeing accessible and the photos and projects featured in the book are drop dead gorgeous.

In her book, Quilt Local, Heather Jones walks you through her creative process and shares with you simple, modern, timeless quilt designs.

We've been admiring Cloth, by Cassandra Ellis for a few months now. It's full of good information about different natural fibers and a truly wide range of very usable and simple project ideas. If you've been in the store recently, you've seen the beautiful quilted wool bag Hannah made from this book.

Unconventional & Unexpected: American Quilts Below the Radar, by Roderick Kiracofe, celebrates funky, nontraditional quilts. I love it because it's beautiful and fun, but also because it reminds me to trust my instincts and use what I have around me - quilts are beautiful and useful even if they're not paragons of precision. There aren't any projects, but there's more than enough inspiration to get you through at least one winter.
