Homemaking Inspiration

by Hannah

I wouldn’t consider myslef much of a homemaker. I’d rather be out walking in the rain or shine. But then I got a serious bee in my bonnet and wanted to recover our couch (more on that later) and haven’t stopped rethinking our space and how to make it more efficient and cozy without spending my life savings.

I have a serious rug obsession. I wish I knew where it came from because it’s becoming a pretty serious addiction. I realized it shopping with my best gal the other week and she asked what I was looking for. “Rugs.” “Hannah, when are you not looking for rugs?” We both laughed and I then I realized, the whole time I was pregnant my nesting consisted of rug shopping and I’m still looking for them. I want to turn them into things and combine multiple to make one large rug that I’ve never seen before. I love how they are different for every culture and the authentic ones are handcrafted.

OK, so here’s the beginning of my braided rug for our living room. The middle is leftover from the couch I just finished, there’s some of our lovely recycled hemp/organic cotton, and silk that I dyed for Anna Maria Horner’s carpet bag a few years ago. More to come on how to make this so stay tuned and start collecting your fabric!
