No Sew Fabric Projects

by Adrianna

This may be a bit taboo to say, however, I (and maybe most of you) have a confession to make. Sometimes I just don’t want to sew! Don’t get me wrong, sewing is my second nature, but it can take up a lot of free time and energy. With my stash of fabric outweighing my time for projects I’ve been turning to some alternative, quick, and easy no-sew-fabric projects. These few projects I will highlight here can be done at all levels (maybe some supervision is necessary for children) can be done anywhere, and require minimal supplies. These are great projects for interior decorating, presents, weekend projects, and showcasing great fabric finds.

The photo above is a fun project you can do to spice up a bare wall in your house or studio. Simply stretch and staple your fabric to a wood frame. Frames can be found at most art projects stores, such as our friends down the street Collage, Michael’s, Blick, etc. Staples and staple guns can be found at some of these stores too, or your neighborhood hardware store.

An even simpler no-sew fabric project is seen here. Take an embroidery hoop and frame a sweet fabric in it! You can get creative with this project as hoops come in all kinds of sizes. Maybe just frame a small section of a fabric print in a 4” hoop, or show it off in a 14” hoop. This is a great project for fabric scraps and fat quarters and all you need is an embroidery hoop.

A fun project to spruce up your outdoor patio is this banner here. Cut up some pieces of oil cloth, staple it to a cord or clothing line and hang it up between some trees!

The easiest no-sew project ever is this scarf idea here. We’ve got some delicate and sweet fabrics, such as this handwoven cloth here, that come in narrow widths; 36-40” wide. These fabrics are great for a scarf or shawl. You can simply fray check the cut edge, or pull a few threads to get a little fringe going and voila! An easy peasy way to show off a great find.

We love hearing about and seeing what you lovely customers do with our fabrics, so let us know what kinds of projects you like to do or recommend that don’t require sewing.

See you soon!
