At the store, we’re always getting news of fun events and classes happening around town, but we don’t have much space to share postcards or post flyers, so we thought we’d start sharing them on the blog.

Classes

There are so many great classes coming up. You could stay busy all spring and summer learning new skills.

Digital Storytelling: Instagram, May 17 & Digital Storytelling: Build a Website Portfolio, June 13 & 14: Sarah Moon is a great friend of the shop and our web guru. She’s the perfect person to learn about digital storytelling from, especially if you’re launching a handmade business.

Court Life & Country Lore, August 7-9: Learn more about historical dress and sewing (as well as what it might have been like being pregnant in the 16th Century) with the Wardrobe Design Studio and the Tudor Tailor.

Wildcraft Studio School Classes, various dates: Check this blog post for more details on their textiles related classes. Also, if you have teens in need of activities this summer, be sure to check their schedule for the their teen art camps. It’s the perfect way to combine the natural beauty of the Gorge while learning more about something you love.

Oregon College of Arts and Crafts Summer Classes, various dates: OCAC has a diverse catalog of fiber and textile classes that can help you grow your sewing skills or expand into a new craft like dyeing, felting, knitting, or weaving.

Events

Oregon State Button Socity Annual Show & Sale, May 1 & 2: If you’re up for a little roadtrip to Keiser this weekend, you’re sure to see some lovely and unusual buttons at this year’s Button Society Show and Sale. We’d love to see your favorite buttons when you get back!

Crafty Wonderland Super Colassal Spring Sale, May 9: Pick up some local handmade goods at Crafty Wonderland’s spring sale at the Oregon Convention Center. They’ll have 225 booths, cats for adoption, and some DIY tables so you can try your hand at making.

Renegade Craft Fair, July 25 & 26: Renegade Craft Fairs curates a selection of makers from around the country for each of their fairs. Over the past decade, their discerning eye has helped to expand the market for artisanal products. If you want to see some of the finest handmade goods being produced right now, take some time to stroll through this year’s fair. It’ll be held at Rejuvenation in Southeast Portland.

Northwest Quilting Expo, September 24-26: Mark your calendars for the 15th annual Northwest Quilting Expo featuring quilts and instructors from across the Northwest. Get inspired and learn some new skills to keep you busy through the fall and winter.
