Weekend project: dining chairs

—by Gina

I am typically not a huge fan of fake things, but some things have their uses.  For example, this “Nordic Hide” pleather product we have.  We’ve had three colors for quite some time, and I just snatched up a sampler pack of twelve colors, small cuts.  This stuff is handy.  About six years ago I used this on dining chairs and it’s still going strong.  It’s wipe-able, keeps its shape, and lasts.

(Yes, we’re on the tail end of a kitchen remodel.) The vinyl was easy to use, pliable and thin enough that it didn’t add too much bulk at the corners when stapling it down.  It was a great afternoon project that has been well worth the effort!

If you don’t have chairs needing recovering, this is also a nice choice for some of our bag patterns.  In fact, a new session of the Carpet Bag class was just added to the schedule at Modern Domestic!  Fantastic bag, check it out.
