The New Year and a Little Sale

Hello!  We are welcoming the New Year with new fabric in stock and a whole lot more on the way.  I am totally taken with Hideaway from Lauren and Jessi Jung for Moda.  Cuckoo clocks?  Yes.  Alpine village prints?  Yes.  We are going to be highlighting some new quilt patterns in the next few weeks and this line is great inspiration.

Spring Apparel sewing is going to be fantastic this year.  Alexander Henry continues to print on lawn (the dots) and Moda is also out with some gorgeous new flora lawn (we also have it in a cream background). We are expecting the Denyse Schmidt Voiles in this month, and we have a whole shelf of Anna Maria Horner voiles-- with bolts from the both Little Folks and Innocent Crush lines.

The cotton industry has taken a beating the last couple of years and it has finally trickled down to retailers.  You may start to notice a 5-10% price increase with some of the new lines this winter and spring.  Our fabric reps have reported the increases, but in some cases we still don't know the exact numbers.   Massive flooding in Pakistan and China and drought in India has all contributed to crop failure, and in a cruel twist of fate, The US and other markets under planted in an effort to steady prices.  Deborah at Whipstitch has an excellent post on all of these factors and why you may see a rise in prices at your local fabric store.  Know that this is not something we're looking forward to, and that we still aim to be as competitive as possible.

Never fear!  To offset the increases we are celebrating the new year with 20% off all books and patterns, beginning Tuesday and lasting through the middle of the month.  We will be streamlining our independent pattern collection this Spring and so if you see it and like it, pick it up!  We'll also be looking for feedback as to what Independent pattern companies or types of patterns you would like to see in stock.  Let us know via the blog or when you stop by to shop.
