Opening Boxes, Opening a Store.

by Lupine.

My favorite nooks at Modern Domestic are the upstairs classroom filled with lovely new, never been touched Janome sewing machines. They are fresh out of the boxes and all happily waiting to be loved, sewn on, and eventually sent home with folks for years of stitching to come.

Downstairs there is a bright pink wall. It brings some color into the very simple color pallet of concrete, wood, and white walls. It is inspired by this lovely color pallet that we have been working with.

I also kind of love this unsightly pile of stuff. A whole heap of tools and sewing supplies arrived yesterday and we have been opening boxes and checking it all in. There are hams for pressing, sleeve boards, lots of Gingher scissors big and small, and Oliso irons.

Modern Domestic will be a great place to get your hands on tools. Both Michelle and I have worked for wholesale distributers of sewing notions and tools for about 11 or so years combined. Having seen about every tool ever made, we have found our favorite, most essential supplies and that what have at MD for use in the classroom and for sale. That gives us a whole lot of knowledge about all the little wonderful things that make sewing and creating a breeze. We believe in having a small and carefully chosen selection of the best, most well made, long lasting, useful items for our (or your) workspace.

We are hoping to share our classes in the next couple weeks, and open our doors the first bit of March.
