Monday night, lots of stripes

 Roth tompkins 020

On Monday I was lucky enough to have the delivery man come by with a shipment of fabric during the hour or so that I was in the store.  (We're closed on Mondays and typically not able to receive packages.)  I had been waiting with so much excitement for this shipment.  It was from a new vendor for us--Roth and Tompkins.  They carry gorgeous fabric of top quality.  Many of them are more expensive than I carry in the store, but I found a nice selection that I think is going to be a lovely addition to our current inventory.  Their fabric tends to be of heavier weight, good for home decor, bags and some fashion.

So, Monday night was spent listening to The Cure and unpacking all these beauties.  I was in heaven.  There are a number of striped pieces--I must confess I adore pinstripes.  The cotton "Harris" pinstripe shown above it so soft and a perfect weight for three-season pants (not good for the ridiculously warm weather we've been having lately).  Or a shirt-dress, classic in black or grey, unexpected in Robin's egg.  There is a crisp, bright white cotton organdy with little pockets.  I imagined a sweet window curtain or room divider where you could store little treasures--sea shells, leaves, flowers, artwork, whatever you want.  (The picture isn't great, I know, but it shows you how sheer it is and the size of the pockets.  The opening of the pocket is on the right side.)

There is another fabric they call Raffia that is anairy, open weave cotton with some drape to it.  This too would make pretty, light curtains.  It could also be interesting as an overlay for clothing...hmmm.  Still thinking about that idea.  We have it in three colors--goldenrod, shown below, seafoam and off-white.

Other goodies from that group include durable canvas in granite, cayenne and espresso, and a heavy weight stripe shown in the first photo in rich red, brown, gold, blue, and orange.

Flannel monkey

Last week we received new sock monkey flannel and flat cotton from Moda.  Adorable.  There's a super cute stacked book print, along with monkeys, monkeys, and more monkeys.  Perfect for cozy pajama pants and pillow cases.

More fabric is arriving later this week and throughout the month...stay tuned.
