Kimono Tee by Salme Patterns

When the weather started getting warm, I knew I need to get serious about sewing some warm weather clothes. At the top of my list were some cool weather tops, especially a simple woven t-shirt. Salme Sewing Patterns to the rescue! All of the Salme Patterns we stock are ideal for hot weather - breezy, lovely, and not at all fussy. The Kimono Tee especially caught my eye because of it's easy fit and straight-forward construction.

From tracing to trying on a finished shirt was probably about six hours of work - not too shabby! The instructions were great, and the details are well thought out, especially that little cuff on the sleeve. I made a size 6 in the bust and graded out to a 12 in the hips, but next time I'll probably go even a little bit bigger for a looser top. The only change I made was to replace the facing with bias tape.

The fabric is an organic cotton lawn by Mona Luna from last summer. We no longer have it in stock, but we do have lots of other lovely organic apparel cottons in the store right now. This shirt looks nice a lawn - especially a Liberty like the kimono tee sample that Sarah's just finished! - but it would really shine in a rayon or a silk.

What are you planning on sewing up for summer?
