As if on cue, the weather has started to change. It's rainier and just a bit cooler. What better time to start thinking about learning a new craft to see you through the rainy season? There are lots of great classes happening around town this fall.

Multnomah Arts Center has lots of interesting fiber-based classes. You could learn spinning, dyeing, weaving, and knitting, and have an entirely handmade garment by the time you're done! I'll be taking the shibori and natural dyes classes in October.

Wildcraft Studio School has another round of classes this fall with some favorites that you might have missed last time as well as some new offerings. The felted slippers would be a particularly cozy class for a fall day.

Oregon College of Arts and Crafts has classes for students who want to dig deep into a new skill. For those of you inclined towards garment sewing, check out The Art of the Fabric Collection.

For beginning or advanced sewers, Portland Sewing has many classes to offer. From corsets to men's shirts, beginning sewing to pattern drafting, there's something for everyone.
