I just opened a box of books and was soon struggling to pull myself away and get on with the tasks at hand. Kaffe Fassett does it again with Simple Shapes, Spectacular Quilts. And Jane Brocket's The Gentle Art of Quiltmaking is equally gorgeous. They are similar in the sense that they both show how patterns seen in our surroundings can be translated into stunning quilts. The designs are straightforward and the fabric is full of color. I want to sit here all day and slowly turn the pages, taking in all the lovely little details. The staging of their work is amusing as well--over the banister in an old house's stairway, laid over an elegant classic car, or hanging next to a gorgeous cathedral. Great books to cozy up with while we wait for the coming of summer. Whether you're curious about piecework, or a seasoned quilter, both books will surely inspire.
In other shop news, Castle Peeps from Lizzy House just arrived. It's pretty darn cute.
