Weekend Inspiration: Summer Ottobre

By Melissa

I plan on spending most of tomorrow sewing.  We'll see what happens-- I might have to lock myself in our room to get anything finished.  Some of what I hope to accomplish is thanks to the two new Ottobre Design Magazines that came in the store this week.

I really love this silk story (from the Women's Issue Spring/Summer 2/2010).  There's some great draping in this issue (it contains 19 patterns in all) and that coat is killer.&nbs

Here's another-- the top on the left is so easy to wear. The ease might be a little out of control on that one, though.  It's a good reminder to measure the pattern pieces (especially at the bust and hips) and compare them to your own measurements to see if you need to size down at all.

All I want to do is sew baby girl clothes!  That is crazy talk around here, and I'm half wondering if I should hide this sort of making from my Paul.  Good thing I have little girl people in my life (and not in my house).

See what I mean?  There are 37 patterns included from baby to big kid-- including lots of great stuff for boys: in other words, the stuff I should be looking to sew.

Ottobre has a great blog where they've posted a pictorial how-to on a great hat pattern in the kids fashion issue (Summer 3/2010).  There's also some info on a little contest they're holding (deadline is Monday).  I wrote a little about how to use Ottobre patterns here, and here's to hoping I'll have some examples of all that focused sewing next week!
