Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Last Project I sewed for fun: A quilt pattern "Any way you slice it" By Denyse Schmidt. I made it very small at a quarter scale, more of a table topper, rather than a full blown quilt.
Favorite Fabrics: I am really into the Oasis Organic Cotton Canvases, they are very versatile. I think they are appropriate for some heavy duty projects being that they are canvas. The weight is more on the medium side, they soften up with washing so much that they are also great for clothing.
Spare time pursuits: Rosewebs! I make wallets and bags out of lawn chair webbing. I source my material from kits that were once used to refurbish lawn chairs. The material is very durable and was made in lots of colors. This business keeps me grounded and active in the craft community. I am also a member of Trillium Artisans a Portland collection of artisans that make products from reclaimed and recycled material.
Favorite place to eat: I like a good burrito, one of the best in the neighborhood is @ Ole Frijole (Killingsworth and 42nd.)
Thank you, April! Marcus Brothers, the manufacturer of Oasis Canvas, has a great tote tutorial here. Next up: April has a great Weekend Project Home Dec Project that's going to showcase some of your favorite fabric on the cheap.
