A huge thank you!

by Gina

Wow.  My only wish, at this point, is that I could take a photo that really showed how large this pile of donated fabric is.  Thank you all so very, very much for making the Coffee Creek Quilters Fabric Drive a success.  All of us here have been so thrilled to see you come in with your donations.  There were many days that I heard, “Gina, have you seen the pile of donations?!”  And it just grew and grew.

You’re the best!

Just in: narwhals, pomegranates and new Colette Patterns!

by Gina

First off, Happy Thursday, new Colette Pattern launch day!  Their two latest designs are available today, we’re well stocked.  Exciting!

It’s more seashorey nautical prints around here this week.  I’m digging the rough background on the rope print in the Ahoy Matey line from Michael Miller Fabric and the coral-red and aqua combo in this group.  (The anchor print is actually part of the next group pictured below…)

This other sea-oritented group is by Sarah Jane for Michael Miller, called Out to Sea.  We went with the pink and blue colorway.  The border print above is fantastic.  And, was put to use by the designer in the Figgy’s Zephyr pattern.  A perfect pair!

The first shipment of our latest Renaissance Ribbons order has been unpacked!  They make the most beautiful ribbons and now a number of popular fabric designers are designing ribbon for them (e.g. Anna Maria Horner is responsible for those butterflies).  Keep your eyes open for Tula Pink’s octopus ribbon coming soon!  I’m partial to the pomegranate ribbon from this first shipment.  Great to finish the edge of a skirt, trim out cuffs or necklines, bags or quilts.

Don’t forget, we’re starting the Coffee Creek Quilters fabric drive next week!  A wonderful opportunity to clear some space and help others!

Free Up Space for Fabric and Feel Good!

by Amy

A year or so ago, as part of our “Organization of the Month” series of fundraisers, we had a sale and donated a portion of the proceeds to Coffee Creek Quilters, a fabulous group that teaches quilting classes to women incarcerated at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon. This year we were thinking of doing something a little different in support of that organization. From Monday September 17th through Sunday, September 30th we will be holding a “fabric drive” at the shop, giving our customers a more direct way to contribute to the work of the Coffee Creek Quilters by donating their unwanted quilting cottons. ´╗┐They ask that your donations be:

  •   Clean 100% cotton
  •   Medium weight woven
  •   Fat quarters or more than ½ yd.
  •   Please, no clothing, drapery fabric, knits, metallics, etc

So dig into that stash, clear some space, and bring your cast-offs by the shop. You will feel good about de-cluttering your sewing space, and about supporting the life-changing work of these fantastic women.
