Just in: Apparel goods, skulls and Star Wars

by Gina

We’re back from our retreat and busy opening up packages of all sorts of new goodies! Thanks for the well wishes while we were away.  We had a great time sewing, sewing, sewing and brought back wonderful new samples we hope you enjoy.

Now, onto the latest.  A shipment of apparel goods arrived and includes silk and silk/cotton, linen, rayon, knits and denim.  Lookin’ good! The silk/cotton print second from the left above has the beautiful lustre.

And, new, fun prints in the cotton world:

Alexander Henry has always done a top rate job with skulls—sugar or not.

Every so often I veer off from my preferred path of non-licensed images as recognizable as these.  I couldn’t resist picking up these two Star Wars prints from Camelot….

Just in: apparel goods and cottons

by Gina

Hi there!  First, I need to say a big thank you to all of you who came out for our bi-annual sale!  As is usually the case, we have a lot of things left over that are still discounted (a whole slew of things at 40% and 50% off!) and the remnant bins are overflowing.  I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from the Just In posts as we geared up for the sale, but we’re back with all sorts of fantastic new apparel goods and quilting weight cottons.

Let’s get started with some new wool!

We’ve really grown our wool selection this year and I’m super excited about it.  Not only do we have a great selection of heavier, coat and skirt weight wools, but we have some gorgeous wool voiles and other fine, lighter weight wool with more drape.  Gorgeous!  Here’s a peek at some of the heavier weight pieces.

(As I was leaving the store yesterday, I opened a package with a couple more beautiful wools and other wonderful wintery apparel fabrics….stay tuned for more or better yet, come in soon and see them in person!)

After the sale we were excited to put out the newest arrivals in the cotton department.  These smart green and blue prints from Dear Stella’s Ikebana line.  The two pieces at the top are part of the Seven Wonders line by Parson Gray (aka David Butler) for Free Spirit Fabrics.  We have more from this classy group in both the blue/greys and the rich orange colors as well.

This year I tried something a little different and ordered some holiday fabrics.  Yep, it’s true.  We’ve started to move some out onto the floor and will continue to do so over the coming weeks.  If you’re looking for more than you see, just ask. Here’s a sneek peek of one of the groups.

We also just receive a slew of books, some new to the store, some old favs.  I’ll fill you in on that in the next day or two.

See you soon!

Just in: Laura Gunn, Westminster Fibers, and apparel goods

by Gina

Hi! The past week has brought us some more visual delights—like the painter artist Laura Gunn’s latest group, Cosmos Collection.  This is a little taste of it.  We certainly have more!  Her prints are always so refreshing, with their painted designs, so nicely printed onto the cloth.  These crisp, warm colors will be welcomed this fall as we shift seasons, I’m sure.  (Anyone else agree this has been a September to remember, weather-wise?!)

More rich, bold, arty wonders from Westminster Fibers—Kaffe Fassett, Brandon Mably, Philip Jacobs…Stunning.

We’ve started to receive more wintery apparel goods and I’m so excited about it!  Just yesterday we were unpacking amazing, light weight wool voiles.  Other apparel newbies include wool tweeds, herringbone, an interesting linen blend (the second from the left in the photo).  I see some beautiful wool garments in our future!

Thank you to all of you who have been able to drop off some fabric for our fabric drive!  We’re collecting goods through this coming Sunday, so you still have time.
