Just in: Market goodies, part 1

by Gina

Quilt Market was in town last weekend and it was a whirlwind of fabrics, notions, patterns, ideas, designs…lots of wonderful conversations and a whole lot of decision making.  I’ll share with you different things I saw and ordered over the coming weeks.  I’m pretty darn excited!

First up, toys.  We expanded our toy pattern/ kit selection by about double with the purchases made at Market.  These adorable little felt owls are from a pattern card put out by Vintage Ric Rac from Austrailia.  They have a wonderful selection of toy patterns, we’re happy to have at the store.

These little felt cuties come from Heidi Boyd, whose book Stitched Whimsy we’ve had in the store as well. These are perfect for a quick hand stitching project, great for nursery artwork, a project to do with the kiddos.  Cute, cute. They can be hung in the hoops, or made into pillow covers or bags…

We also have more of those fabulous stitching kits and patterns from Alyssa at Penguin & Fish.  And, remember, if you’re not near by, we’re happy to ship things out to you!  Just give us a call.

And, fabric-wise, we received an awesome shipment from Robert Kaufman Tuesday with all sorts of fantastic denim, chambrays, voiles, and even welcomed back this lovely striped dobby.  Our selection of the new “Textured Solids” from Andover have started to arrive.  These have a beautiful slightly slubby texture.  Come see for yourself!

Just in: Comma, Locally Grown, Type and Sale dates!

by Gina

A while back we received the Moda “Candy” for this group—cute, little 2” square bundles of each print in the group.  We have just a few left, and a darling example of what can be made up with them on our “wall of pride!”  Thanks to Sarah!  Take a peek next time you’re in.  Ok, the group—grammar graphics, who doesn’t love that?! Designed by Zen Chic for Moda.  We’ll be receiving more “candy” bundles for future groups from Moda, keep your eyes open for them!

Just in time for Easter, Locally Grown, is so darling.  Sweet flowers on a soft cream background, sheep, lambs, chicks, eggs, bees…how else can you say Spring?  This group is by the ever talented Marisa of Creative Thursday.  Sweet, sweet.

We also recently received a few pieces from Type by Julia Rothman.  Check out more about the artist, and see the prints here

Don’t forget to take advantage of our “March Madness” promo this month.  It’s been a lot of fun sending folks back and forth between Cool Cottons and Bolt.  Hope you’ve been enjoying it too!

We’ll be holding our big, store-wide twice-a-year sale April 12th, 13th and 14th.  It’s a great time to stock up on same stellar deals.  ALL FABRIC is marked down 10-50%, and some gets marked down even more than that! We’ll let you know any other details as we get nearer.  For now, just mark those calendars.

Just in: Marcia Derse, Anna Maria Horner voile and Lucky Penny

by Gina

Three new pretty, pretty pieces from oh so talented Marcia Derse arrived this past week.  They go nicely with the few pieces we already had.  Her style is so unique and textural.  I appreciate their simple elegance, natural hues and graphic designs.

Silky soft, a pleasure to work with, easy to care for, cotton voiles by Anna Maria Horner are here!  New designs from her Field Study line.  Great for some holiday dress making.  Their light weight nature tends to make them more of a warm weather staple, but coupled with a sweater or long sleeve T and leggings (that you made yourself? even better!) and you’re good to go!

I remember ordering this line, Lucky Penny by Alison Glass for Andover, back in the spring and laying out the large pieces of paper with the samples on the floor of the showroom so I could get a good look at them.  Some of the prints are so large, that was the best way to see them.  This group is so fun and gorgeous.  The large scale prints work great for stretched pieces for wall art, quiltbacks, curtains and can be quite interesting in clothing.  I love the rich, warm, jewel tones of this line.
